Measurements
Long shafted head on this war spear from the Angoni, a migratory Zulu tribe.
This particular dates from the days of Chief Mpharembe, sometime before
1940, and was collected in Emcisweni, Malawi. The slender wooden shaft is
wrapped in rawhide near the spearhead junction, and with blackened copper
wire and iron bands at the butt end for strength and balance. A nice example
of a relatively rare spear.
This spear was collected in southern Africa circa the mid 1900's, and is
an authentic weapon made for use.
