length: 8' 10"
This spear may have come from the Peabody Collection sold by Bannerman's
auction house in 1927 - it was sold to me as such, but I've been unable to
verify that information. As with several other pole weapons in the
TherionArms catalog, this spear passed through the hands of a Hollywood prop
house in the mid 1900's, and had been painted silver (head) and flat black
(shaft). It's now been cleaned and reconditioned to it's original glory. The
head is brass, which indicates this was an 1800's parade spear rather than
an earlier fighting weapon. Our Gothic
model stands 6'1" at helmet crest, showing the impressive length of this
spear.
head: 14 1'2"
