Here's something quite rare - a riot helmet from the White House/Secret
Service police force, circa mid 1970. The Secret Service began protecting
the President in the 1890's (Wild, Wild West!), and in 1906 a separate
organization was formed to protect the rest of the executive branch of
government, and later merged as part of the Secret Service. In 1970 the
White House police force was renamed the Executive Protective Service - that
name remained in use until 1977, so this helmet dates from between 1970 and
1977. At the time, there were only 850 members of the force. Plastic helmet
with lifting platic visor and adjustable suspension liner. Officer's name
"P.W. England" written inside. Helmet is in great shape, with only minor
scuff marks.
height (helmet, earpiece to top): 9"
height (face shield): 6 1/2"
inner circumference: 23 1/2"
