Ah, the spiked flail - an iconic medieval weapon! Or is it? In truth, the spiked ball on a chain is a rather rare weapon. Very few examples exist, and there is no mention of them in any fechtbuch (fight manual). However, since they *are* iconic and a lot of folks want to have them in their collections, here's a rather spiffy version. Note that the chain is sanely much shorter than the handle (as in the few remaining historical pieces). Now, doesn't that make a lot more sense than the weird third-world-wall-hanger-junk spiked flails that have a 6" handle and 18" chain? Our ancestors were no more resistant to the laws of physics and angular momentum and smacking themselves in the head or hands than we moderns are. Seriously, I know I'm all about functional weaponry, but this one is pretty much as dangerous to the user as it is to the usee. Enjoy, but don't do something stupid with one of these. Steel shaft, steel chain, hollow steel head (a solid steel head would really be historically inaccurate, overly heavy, and insanely dangerous). Leather braided grip. Made by Paul Chen / Hanwei).
