The original Coppergate helm, an Anglo-Saxon masterpiece dating from the 8th century, was recovered during excavations in the ancient walled city of York in 1982. This reconstruction by GDFB (Get Dressed for Battle) is of spangenhelm construction from 14 gauge steel, with a riveted maille aventail, adjustable leather suspension liner, and leather chinstrap. An absolutely beautiful helmet, sure to be the pride of any combat reenactor.
