This thickly padded gambeson has strap-and-buckle closures and open armpits, providing mobility and ventilation. The padding is reduced at the inside of the elbows for increased mobility, the outer and inner shells are heavy-duty padded canvas, and the quilted padding is a felted wool blend. This style is quite popular with my Viking era friends.
