Open face barbute helmet

The ever hazy mists of time have obscured whether the Italians or Spanish invented the barbute, but it's perfectly clear why it became popular all over Europe. This helmet provided ample protection, in some cases all the way to the shoulders, but the open face gave unencumbered vision, and also allowed quick oxygen replenishment. Our 18 gauge steel version is fitted with a leather liner and chinstrap to make it fully wearable.
