A Roman officer's dagger, incorrectly identified as a Greek dagger by many websites. Just one or two partial finds of historical parazonium exist, and one of those is associated with a statue. However, the parazonium is frequently seen in surviving representations and nowhere more so than on coins where (although not reproduced in great detail) it is held by emperors or the figures of gods and goddesses. Some surviving representations of the parazonium show the dagger to be almost short sword length with an eagle-head hilt. This version is dagger length, with a pugio styled hilt. The blade is high carbon steel. Guard is steel and wood, with a hardwood grip. Scabbard included. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts.
