California Bowie knife from the Paul Chen/Hanwei Historical Bowies Collection. High carbon steel blade with decorative scrollwork etch. Black wood handle with brass guard. Embossed brown leather belt sheath with nickel silver tip. When the forty-niners went overland to the Gold Rush of California, most took along a Bowie knife to use on the trail and for "social purposes" if the need should arise. Some had a fancy side etch like this one: "Californian Bowie Knife"; it’s rare to find an original these days, so we offer this reproduction.
