Measurements
Longsword waster for Western Martial Arts training, drills, and
sparring. Weight, balance, and handling characteristics are superb. This is
a perfect training tool for anyone interested in armored or unarmored sword
combat. Made in Texas by Purpleheart Armoury from Tennessee hickory hardwood with a cherry wood guard and pommel.
The longsword, also known as a hand-and-a-half or bastard sword, was the
mainstay weapon carried by Medieval and early Renaissance knights and
men-at-arms. It's length of blade made it perfect for use on foot or on
horseback, and it's longer grip allowed for use either in one or two
hands. This is the weapon of choice for most Western Martial Arts masters -
De Liberi, Ringeck, Thalhoffer, etc.
