Medium-sized all-steel dished round shield, more properly a rotella (Italian) or rodela (Spanish) or target (English). These were the favored shield of the Spanish military sword and buckler fighters - larger than the civilian buckler, small enough to be quickly wielded in a fast aggressive style. It was soldiers armed with targets such as these under the command of Gonzalvo de Cordoba who defeated the Hapsburg-Valois pike formations in the Italian wars. Used throughout the 16th century and into the 17th century. 18 gauge steel with reinforced rim and leather grips. The current production run is not painted on the inside, but can be if you so choose.
