Parang from the Batak people of Northern Sumatra. Interesting blade, that
metal "collar" at the bolster/ricasso area is a forged integral part of the
blade making it quite thick and sturdy at the base. Hardwood grip and
scabbard intricately carved with geometric designs (grip) and anthromorphic
and lizard and scorpion designs (scabbard). Slight crack to grip on the
stage-right side, blade and scabbard are in excellent condition. Circa early
1900's, may be earlier, all descriptions will be revised as my knowledge
base grows.
