Chinese single-edged jian

Measurements
length: 36 1/2"
blade: 28 1/2"
blade width: 1 3/8"
grip (handle and pommel): 6 3/4"
guard: 4 1/4"
weight: 2 lbs 5 oz

Interesting blade is sharp for the entire length on one edge, thickly spined (1/4") on the other edge for half of the blade's length and sharp for the remaining half. The engraved section of the blade plus 4" is a classic wedge-shaped grind (flat on the spine and sharp on the edge), then the sword undergoes a conversion and the remaining 15" is double-edged with a diamond shaped cross section. The sword fits in the scabbard with the half edge down and the full edge up. Lacquered wood grip and wood scabbard, with brass fittings.

This has been identified as a modern-made fake antique. Many similar swords are being produced in central China and are being sold on eBay as original antiques. Caveat emptor!
