Chinese double-jian

Very interesting pair of swords in one scabbard. The blades are flat and engraved on one side, have a 3 1/2" ricasso and then develop into an oval cross-section with a raised double ridge fuller on the other side. Traditional seven brass dots inlaid into the blade. Quite unusual blade geometries, I haven't seen the like before. Grips and scabbard are wood with brass fittings, with a three-dimensional lizard on one of the scabbard fittings. Even more unusual is that the swords and scabbard are set up for a left-handed swordsman - the lizard placement indicates the swords are to be worn on the right hip. A really magnificent pair of swords - I have no idea of exactly when or exactly where they were produced.

This has been identified as a modern-made fake antique. Many similar swords are being produced in central China and are being sold on eBay as original antiques. Caveat emptor!
