length: 20 1/4"
blade: 15 1/8"
blade width: 16"
grip and pommel: 5"
guard: 3 1/4" x 1 1/2"
weight: 1 lb 1.3 oz
I originally had this identified as a French model 1914 Remington bayonet, but recently received a note from a friend who told me:
"it is not a Remington 1914 French model, but a Brazilian 1908 Mauser long pattern bayonet, although pommel and shape of blade look quite similar. The difference is the French type Remington 1914 does not have the cleaning hole near the cross-guard . In contrast, the Brazilian Mauser 1908 has a cleaning hole as shown in your pictures. I verified this by checking the bayonet encyclopedias by Paul Kiesling, Jerry Janzen, Jean-Pierre Vial, etc." Description updated, thanks much, F.!
