A Russian kindjal dagger, from the Caucasus Mountains region (modern Cechnya, Ossetia, Georgia and nearby). Circa mid 1900's, most likely in the 1930 to 1960 range. The blade looks to have been chromed, and one of these days I'll remember not to wear red t-shirts when photographing reflective objects. Brass and nickel silver hilt and scabbard, quite decorative on one side and quite plain on the other. In great condition, except that the finial ball at the end of the scabbard has been smooshed into a football shape. This style of kindjal was de rigueur wear for the well dressed Caucasian.
