19th century Turkish or Russian kindjal dagger. Trooper-grade dagger with officer-grade blade which looks to have been filed down from a larger and fancier blade, possibly a presentation sword. Dark wooden handle has been painted with two different layers of icky military green paint, both shades reminiscent of the greens used in Germany and central Europe circa 1850's. A faux stamped damascus pattern is evident in the fullers, blade shows file marks and the remains of gold flowery surface engravings at one or two points. Very cool, definetly not a prissy officer's weapon. Someone liked/needed this steel enough to reuse it.
