A curved shinai - one of those amazingly simple, head-slapping ideas that I'm completely amazed that no one ever thought of before. The tension curved bamboo blade allows training and light-contact fighting moves that cannot be done with a standard straight shinai. This is cool, I wish I had thought of it. Therion's suggestion - foam pipe insulation taped over the tip will help make this shinai even more thrust-safe. (That's a suggestion from what we used to do back in the 80's with standard shinai for the infamous (and completely non-SCA sanctioned) Confed vs Tuchux / Samurai vs Ninja Wars).
