This saber is replicated from the sword carried by General Jo Shelby, the Missouri cavalry raider who never surrendered his command. Hand forged 1095 high carbon steel tempered to ensure it performs exactly as the original did. This saber features a flexible ornate blade, and a leather grip wrapped with brass wire. "C.S.A." is acid etched on the ornate blade, "C.S." is cast into the guard with excellent detail. The scabbard is blued steel, with brass throats, mounts, rings and drag. Don't let the inexpensive price fool you, this isn't one of the cheap made in some third world country untempered slabs-o-steel - this reproduction is a faithful copy of the original model, tempered to pass the British Proof Test (which includes bending to 20 degrees and springing back, wacking against anvil blocks and not breaking, and several other steel tortures). A truly beautiful reproduction.
