July 2022 - The original blunt langmesser production runs were discontinued back in 2012 - they were a sword ahead of their time, too rigid for the tastes of HEMA practitioners back then - but if you're a hard player or doing any variety of steel combat harnischfechten, you're going to be wowed by these. They are now available during limited edition production runs. Feel free to email to check availability, but pre-ordering and waiting is the way to get one.

Long awaited in the US - a rebated langmesser from CAS Hanwei. Production in 2011 was
extremely limited but I managed to get hold of a couple of these beauties. Once current
supplies are gone, we won't be seeing more until mid 2012 at the earliest.
Here's the official description:
"Sparring with the Langmesser has been popular in Europe for some time and our introduction of the Practical Langmesser will give our sparring fraternity the chance to enjoy this uniquely German weapon. Characterized by its full-tang construction, with riveted hardwood handle slabs, distictive 'nagel' or knuckle-guard and hooked pommel, the Langmesser was a formidable weapon in skilled hands.
Our version has a full-tang blade in 5160 high-carbon steel, with a distal taper and double fullers providing excellent balance. The grip and elongated pommel combine to enable the sword to be used in either a single- or two-handed mode. The 2mm edge and the rounded tip also make this sword re-enactment legal and, together with the classic leather-covered scabbard, it provides a distinctive option for the foot soldier."
Blunt steel training messers. Serious coolness. You know you want one (or more).
