Castilian rapier

By the early 1600's the Spanish Empire was crumbling, but was still home to magnificent swords and swordsmen and the finest infantry in the world. This circa 1630 rapier epitomizes the deadly extravagance of the time, with a superbly detailed pierce-work blade and an engraved hilt that has been plated in stunning 18K gold because hey, when your empire owns exclusive looting rights for all of central America, you get to wear the good stuff. The matching ringed scabbard has equally fine engravings and is covered in rich, supple brown leather. This top-of-the-line rapier would make any Spaniard proud to die with it in hand at Rocroi.
