This late viking-era sword is replicated from one shown in Ian Pierce's book 'Swords of the Viking Age'. The engravings on both sides of the high carbon steel blade are copied exactly from the original. The grip is wood wrapped with leather with a steel crossguard and distinctive brazil-nut pommel. (It is the pommel and the tapering blade that dates this to the 11th or 12th century.) Very nice, this is well balanced and beautiful sword (complete with scabbard.)
