The blade is differentially tempered and fully sharpened 1055 carbon steel, hand polished to a bright mirror finish. The tsuba, fuchi, and kashira are expertly made and finely crafted in nickel-silver brass. The h hilt is covered in samé (ray skin), tightly wrapped in the traditional style with black silk cord. The saya is lacquered and polished, and the sword comes with a protective storage bag .
