length: 44 1/2"
Antique US cavalry saber reworked into a long Japanese style two-hand sword
by Colorado weaponsmith Tom Hyle. Tough springy blade stamped "N.J" - I've
been unable to determine the manufacturer, but I'm sure that doesn't stand
for "New Jersey". Tang was soft steel, has since been taken up to cherry-red
and slow cooled three times for extra strength and temper. Grip is koa wood
with brass fittings, sheath is curly maple with poplar edges and antique
brass fittings. Really sweet feel to this sword - nice balance, weight, and
flow.
