Measurements
Now here's something you don't see every day. The blade looks like a robust late
1800's central or western European yataghan-bladed sidearm, more massive and less
curved than the typical yataghan sword-bayonet. The blade is similar but not an
exact match for the Model 1892 Bavarian "Artillerie-Seitengewehr" sidearm, with a
slightly wider blade. Spine of the blade is a full 5/16" thick at the base,
tapering to 1/16" at the false edge. The grip (which is slightly loose) is a tin/pewter mix,
welded down the center, with three brass pins attaching it to the blade. Cast
engravings on the side read "Santa Lucia" - "Guava Jane". Very mysterious, and a
literature and web search come up with no information on Guava Jane or any
derivative (Santa Lucia is an island in the Caribbean).
