Early to mid 1900's Nepalese kukri (variant spellings - khukri, khukuri, kukhri) with carved
wooden scabbard. A village kukri used as a kitchen and agricultural tool as well as a home
defense weapon. The chip-carved wooden scabbard imitates the design of the more commonly seen
traditional leather-covered scabbards, and is typical of higher altitude rural areas where
leather is scarce. As-forged finish on blade; no provision on the scabbard for accessory
knives.
