length: 36 1/2"
Spanish or Mexican bullfighting sword, circa mid 1900's. This
is quite solid for the period. One-piece grip and guard are wonderfully
detailed, monogrammed "PSL". Blade is properly curved along the long
axis for an overhand thrust through the bull's shoulders aiming for the
heart. I can think of other first
choices for weapons to grab when confronted with a two-ton mad cow, but if
you're going to be in that position in the conceivable future, this sword
will work as well as an older sword would, and won't have to be considered
part of your estate if you miss.
