Congolese shortsword

length: 23"
blade: 18"
blade width: 1 5/16" base, 2 5/16" at "false edge"
grip: 4 1/2"

This nasty little weapon is sharp on the inside curve of the blade from the point to the grip and on the flat and back edge of the tip. A popular style of blade design throughout the Congo, Cameroon, and Central African Republic areas, this 18th or early 19th century weapon is a direct descendent of one of the many styles of African throwing knives. Don't throw it, however - it's balanced to cut quite nicely from the hand.
