Sudanese kaskara shortsword

length: 31"
blade: 25 1/2"
blade width: 1 9/16" base
grip: 5"
guard: 4"

Circa late 1800's, most likely a war souvenir taken home to Britain after being recovered from a dead "Fuzzy Wuzzy" in the colonial wars. Flat blade is etched base to point with Arabic inscriptions. Wooden handle is missing the traditional leather wrapping. Scabbard is pretty much in relic condition, proving once again that the Riddle of Steel is stronger than the Riddle of Leather. This is the shortest kaskara I've ever seen, but the blade edges and etching all declare that this is it's original length.
