In God we trust. Everyone else, keep your hands where I can see them.
Beck and Hannity are the Crabbe and Goyle of the GOP.
Sometimes paranoia's just having all the facts. -- William S. Burroughs
I care about history and want my entertainment to reflect that history--or at least the settings of history--as accurately as possible even when the events are only pseudo-historical fiction. Because *I* find that entertaining and am sick of having to exercise so much (un)willing suspension of disbelief. Because I happen to think the real thing is far cooler than anything made up by someone who's never been in a fight in his life and thinks the sine-qua-non of fighting involves leaping around on wires like some demented fairy while having medieval Europeans throw spinning back kicks. -- Hugh Knight (on movie sword-fight scenes)
"A criminal is a person with predatory instincts who has not sufficient capital to form a corporation." -- Howard Scott
At best, the SCA is a Victorian recreation of 'medieval-ish'ness. That's why we have this psuedo-Arthurian bunch of crap in the place of chivalry, and a weird reward system for activities. It's like a 6th grader's view of history after watching 'First Knight'. -- Roger Siggs
Is it ironic that bankers and traders have done more to destroy capitalism than anarchists and socialists ever did?
Objectivism is what happens when you take the shrieks and whining of a spoiled child and turn it into a philosophy.
Try to avoid situations where you are forced to drink your own urine.
"For combat is properly a sort of exercise through which the body will be trained to skill in wielding the weapon; then when one is trained in it, he must last arrange it in the work itself, and wield the weapon depending on what the opportunity requires; so the better trained he is, the better he will be able to meet every opportunity that happens." - Joachim Meyer, Art of Combat, 1570.
