Each piece in the Wind & Thunder series has a hand-forged 1065 high-carbon steel blade, differentially tempered using a traditional claying method. The blades in the series feature a large o-kissaki. The Wind & Thunder series are fitted with the black iron raiden tsuba and Tomoe mon motif fuchi and kashira. The grip is wrapped in white ray skin (same) and the tsuka-ito and sageo are premium Japanese black cotton. The saya is done in a deep black lacquer and the sageo is black Japanese cotton. Paul Chen/Hanwei have designed this as a cutting katana with a thick and heavy blade specifically for the martial artist that needs a sword for tameshigiri cutting practice. This set is ideal for those looking for a katana and tanto that will stand up to the rigors of Battojutsu and heavy cutting training. The Wind & Thunder series consists of a matched katana and tanto.
